Options - Notices
Identification messages are sent to unknown senders. They are used to identify the unknown senders before authorizing them. This option allows configuring the behavior of the system for all sent identification messages.
- Allow X days for the recipient to answer: Set the expiration period of a Pidkey sent to a contact (as part of a message). When the Pidkey expires, all previously received messages from that address will be consider SPAM by Pidmail.
- Allow a second trial to be sent to the sender: Check this option if you wish that a second notice be sent to a sender. This notice will be sent only if the sender answers incorrectly the identification message sent to him.
- Send reminder messages two days later for quarantined sender: Check this option to send a reminder to a sender whose message is in quarantine. This reminder is sent two days after sending the identification message and only if the sender has not already answered the identification message he received.
- Send maximum X message(s) for same sender in quarantine: indicates the number of messages to send for one sender (same email address) into quarantine.
- Send a reception notice on the identification message response: Choose this option if you want to send a notice that announces the sender if his message has been received. This notice is send after an identification message response is received.
- Add sender who identifies himself correctly to my address book: Choose this option if you want contacts that know your Pidkey or those that responded to the identification question correctly, to be added to your address book.
This option makes it possible to maintain up to date the authorized list of contacts.
- Delay sending identification messages: Check this option if you do not want to send all notices immediately (identification message, delivery status message, message reminder), after they are created by the system.
- Delete notices sent after X day(s) of retention : Check this option if you want the system to delete sent notices after the retention period expires.
Identification messages sent have two difficulty levels. It is recommended to use a higher difficulty level, i.e. use temporary image code. The advantage of using image code is that is easy to read for a human being but very difficult to read for a machine. Thus, it becomes practically impossible for spammers to automate their systems to send their spams (junk emails).
This option allows setting a difficulty level of identification messages sent to an unknown sender.
- With temporary image code: choose this option if you want to send an identification message with a temporary code image.
- Without temporary image code: choose this option if you want to send an identification message with a temporary code. This code should be copied in the object area of the identification message’s answer.
It is possible to configure the system not to send identification messages at certain types of email addresses.
This option makes it possible to exclude certain addresses starting by a prefix specify in front of @. For example, for avoid that identification messages be sent to email addresses with noreply@example.com, you should enter noreply@ and save it.

Options - Lists
It is possible to use email addresses only to forwarding. In this case, you will certainly want that all the notices created by the system such as identification messages, reminders etc to have as return email address the corresponding forwarding email address.
This option is used for specifying email addresses corresponding to the forwarding email addresses. These email addresses can be searched in the header of the received message. If one of the email addresses is found, the system will use it as return email address. This happens when the system will create a notice to send.
It is possible to block a particular email or a complete domain. For example, if you realize you are on a subscribe list without your consent. The system can eliminate this type of message; you can even block any message coming from a complete domain.
This option is used for indicating email addresses or domain names that you want blocked. If one of these blocked addresses or domains is found, the system will send the message in your Spam folder without any other notice.

Except the mentioned exceptions, any received message from the visited Web sites will be accept by default.
This option makes it possible to add exceptions to the Web sites accepted. I.e. the messages coming from registered Websites added as exceptions will be managed like any other message. Therefore, they will not be accepted by default.
